Thanks hopefully I wont have any problems. If everything goes to plan I should be able to make a move within one year.

I was originally from China and immigrated to the Midwest where I became a citizen while still in high school. Then I moved to the Bay Area for college. I've also lived in LA County, Sacramento, and Europe in addition.

To your question. I am a businessman, and in London I owned a chain of mini supermarkets which I have sold. When I move to OC I plan on going back into exactly the same type of work because I enjoyed it. I have already been in contact with a few California business brokers on purchasing supermarkets in the area and have got back some very interesting candidates.

I am in the process of looking at an EB-5 Visa and going through the paperwork as we speak.

We moved to Mission Viejo from Canada on a EB-5 Visa. We love it here and certainly don't miss the cold weather. I do miss ketchup and dill pickle flavored potato chips

Most of the people we have met have been from different states, not many that are originally from Orange County.

Good luck with your move!

I spotted dill pickle chips in the market recently so you may be in luck. I think they were made by Lays brand? Ketchup flavored chips? Neither my mind nor stomach is ready to go there yet.

As for the OP, I'm not in CA yet, but I consider myself on a westward migration. In my life I have migrated twice from west to east, with stopovers both south and north along the way, and am currently back in a westward migration. I think the transient life is rather common here in the states, so I expect OC to be much the same. A true mix.

It is my belief that things tend to get bogged down when an area becomes too heavy in one ethnicity or social class.

Almost moved back several weeks ago myself, but decided to stay here in Colorado. I seem to meet a lot of people from my state out there. Last time I lived in NB I was sandwiched between some ex Boulderites and a neighbor from Vail. I think OC, and Southern California in general is kind of an exchange state with Colorado. Mountains and beaches, snowboardiing and surfing are a compatible ying and yang.

My parents were from New York. My father was in the military and I was born in San Diego in 1946. Next came China, Alabama and North Carolina and in 1951, Dad was assigned to El Toro MCAS and we ended up in Newport Beach. That became our off-and-on home home until shortly after my father retired for the second time, many years later. It was my primary home until my own service beginning in 1966.

I think majority of new homeowners in OC are from other countries. Many college kids move here because of the party scene and college experience. A lot of the oldtimers are cashing out and moving to places with more space.
