Traffic was one of the reasons we left. What is really shocking is returning for a visit and discovering your traffic tolerance has dropped to the point you feel instantly insane being in it.

My aunt and uncle live in Houston and when they were out for a visit I playfully hinted they should move out here. They considered it for about 5 minutes, but when trying to visit a few museums in LA, they were totally shaken! Lol! They were like NO WAY!!!

Again, they're from Houston which is not exactly for the faint of heart traffic wise either!

The crazy thing is, today there was an article in the OC Register about the need for much more housing in OC and neighboring SoCal counties, stressing the "selfish" and "mistaken" reasons residents oppose this. One of which being that people believe this would increase traffic congestion.

Ha ha! Silly OC residents! Imagine believing that adding 60,000 homes to the region would increase traffic. How mistaken and selfish can you be.

Time spent in pollution and traffic cannot be good for your health.

Part of the problem is that a lot of the jobs are here, especially in tech etc.
Maybe companies are hiring, but no one wants to move here because of the housing shortage? Makes me wonder if some of the industries around here are part of the push for more housing?

I think I've heard this is happening in the Bay area. The offers sounds amazing, but then when the cost of living is researched, some figure it's just not worth it, especially if they have kids.

Yeah, our lives are always so much better with the ever increasing density.

That's pretty much what people in North County said when the developers started destroying the wide-open spaces of South County to build tens of thousands of look-alike houses.

Maybe one day people in OC will learn about this thing called "rapid transit" and develop a useable public transit network. I realize though that's way too progressive for OC right now, maybe one day...
