Here's our newest rehab project - a circa 1870's house built by a retired sea captain in the river valley of west central Arkansas. We move in this week - YIKES!

hi sam, nice house!! looks like quite a few "capes" (with a later addition) thats around here, the "cape" cod style home was very very popular 150-200 yrs ago, steep stairs,,,tin ceilings, rooms upstairs, with low ceilings. thier use to be fire places in most of the rooms,,now probly blocked off, many had built in hutches.
i enjoy looking at older houses, the woodwork, moldings, "parlors"
and different ceilings.
Thank you, if only I can figure out how to keep bugs really far away. I haven't had any inside but holy cow there's a lot of bugs here. Don't get me wrong, I love SC but big bugs and lots of them!
Sam, nice house good luck with your move.
Karla, I wish you can come and help me with my flowers.
Moose...when you reply, down under the message box is a box that says "manage attachments" - you can click that on and search your PC for the pic you want, then hit the upload button.
How these folks are inserting their picture directly, I can't tell you - they are craftier than I!
Oh, unless you are quoting, you will have to do an advanced post, too....sorry...
Thanks to those who have wished us luck - I hope our marriage survives...we are moving in next door to our last house - these pix were from 2004 when we had our first good summer for plants....up until then, the yard was entirely plain brown dirt....this is a 1905 Sears craftsman straight out of the catalog that had an upstairs added. LOTS of woodwork and trim in that house - we even scavenged an old bannister from an orphanage that was being torn down.
I love capes they don't have any here in Fla though
Moose - I use photobucket , I load the pictures (its free and easy ) then once the pictures are there you will see 3 lines of text under the picture you want to copy and paste the 3rd line to your post and there you go .
