It seems like everytime you pack to go somewhere you forget an item or two. We have a list we follow, but once in awhile someone, I won't say who, forgets something, usually cell phone charger.
I started packing for trips about a week ahead of time and would just leave the suitcase open so I could toss things in as I thought of them. Really helped cut down on the "OH !!" moments
Most of the time I dont forget, I just pack lightly and just buy when I get there.
Only one time I forgot a nice light jacket, the 1st time I went to OK, for my son's grad from basics, and had to wear my ex's the duration of the visit (he lived out there). And it smelled of smoke (he's a smoker) but at least I had something....

That is soooo annoying, that's why I start making a very long list way ahead of time including the simple items that you think you would never forget like a toothbrush, so now I don't normally forget anything important. Heaven forbid I should have to pack in a hurry, I would forget everything!
