I'm so old I remember... As a kid in school we had 1/2 pint glass bottle of milk with cardboard lids you pulled off.. The " Dreaded Lunch Lady.. yes the one with the big black mole on her chin.. would give you the evil eye when you placed the bottle open end up.. then she would storm the window like a wild animal snorting and holing.. how many times must I tell you face the bottle down... as a kindergartener you had nightmares from this..

I'm so old I remember... Mom wrapped my sandwiches in wax paper.. PBJ we had no refrigeration.. and Baloney & mustard was the next option on the menu.. then the dreaded brown sugar & mustard sandwich was the last option.. Lunch was expensive.. $1.50 for 5 days and you had your paper ticket the lunch lady punched.. and also gave you the evil eye.. she was very scary person the first couple years..
Remember Hansel & Gretel and the Witch in the woods... aka the lunch lady.. every kid just knew she was the witch..

My mom wrapped the sandwich in the old used waxy bread wrappers that the loaf came in. And we had to bring it back home and reuse it the next day until it was time to open a new loaf of bread.....

Because my parents worked at the State Hospital.. They brought home slices of bread for my lunch. Being a employee that had their meals there.

I'm so old I remember... Cars with no seat belts.. and those vinyl seat covers.. so hot in the summer they would sear the flesh off the backs of your legs.. and in the winter generate a zillion volts of static electricity if you wore your nylon snow suite.. as you slide back and forth going to town..
