I remember buying Maybelline turquoise eyeshadow. It was a big deal to buy this (late 60s) the makeup section was quite small. Then Maybelline came out with a little kit with three small eyeshadows w/blush, that was exciting back then.
Yardley carried a wonderful frosted lipstick in silver or pink, I liked the pink.
If I remember correctly I think there was only Maybelline, Revlon, Max Factor & Yardley.
The stores back then were small, drug stores were small except Woolworths which was huge. I can remember turquoise eyeshadow, false eyelashes and the eyeliner apply with a brush. That was about it for the makeup section, just a few things to choose from, and that was ok, we were happy - Life was Simple
I'm so old I remember curb feelers, fender skirts, vacuum driven windshield wipers that you could set to the beat of the radio music, oil bath air cleaners, bakelite ashtrays, cloth wiring in automobiles, gas doors behind the taillight, ethyl gasoline, rear seat areas of automobiles so large you walked across to the far side and, barely, black and yellow Texas license plates.
I too remember early 70's Maybelline, my first eyeshadow was a flat matte brown the drugstore also carried blue and green. There was a bit later a stacked set of 3 cream eyeshadows in green do not remember the brand. A roll-on lipgloss brand.....? I remember only a choice of pink or red lipstick. The pharmacy sold Hinds pink facecream in rhe glass bottle only choice the drugstore mid 60's. I was mesmerized by the pink at age 5. Shampoo was sold in a glass bottle.
I remember sometime around 63 we kids would walk to the railroad tracks where it crossed a river so we could see the hobos. They were men who rode the rails, I guess. All I know is we were scared to death of them. And we were told they like to lay around and read comic books.
