Traffic lights? And all that time I thought they were red, yellow, and green Christmas lights to decorate intersections and they leave them there all year!

I knew all this worthless knowledge I have been storing for years would come into play someday, now is one of those days .

Nouveau Beaujolais is "new Red wine" and it is tradition that on the third Thursday in November the wine producing regions in France that bottle this, release this years batch to the world. It has become kind of a race to see who can serve this years batch the first in different regions.

Where did you take your vacation in France?
LOL.. In France? That's a... nice name for a city, that can cause confusion when somebody asks the question: "Where did you go on vacation?", A: "Nice", "Yeah, I know it was nice, but where did you go on vacation?", "Nice!", "I know it was nice, but.....", you get the picture! . Actually, I believe it's French pronounciation is "Nee-say".

I wonder if they also make that Noveau Beaujolais wine Bydand mentioned, which I thought that was a French astronaut, or some French explorer I didn't know about... heck I don't even know any French Explorers for that matter, except the SUVs Ford makes, and sells in France!

What was nice surprise thing someone did for you?

My family and friends know that it's pretty hard to surprise me, but they've managed on a couple of occasions. A couple of other things have stood out over the years, though.

DH and I were celebrating our One Year Anniversary at the same restaurant we visited on our wedding night. An older couple sitting nearby overheard us talking to the waiter and later sent over a bottle of wine. They thought it was very sweet that we were sentimental and thought it looked like we were on our way to building a strong marriage. This was their way of encouraging us.

A very good friend and office mate of DH learned that I was having a pretty lousy Valentine's Day one year, so he sent me one of his extra special berry tarts that he had imported from Pennsylvania. He hoarded those things as special treats, but he was sad that I was having such a bad day, so he decided to share.

What was a nice surprise thing you did for someone else?

My very favorite surprise was a scrapbook I put together for a friend who was battling breast cancer. Since laughter is supposed to be the best medicine, I created a book filled with the funniest stories, cartoons, pictures, and jokes I could find. My criteria was that all the entries had to be laugh-out-loud funny. After using everything I had in my personal collection, I scoured the internet and books for additional items. The end result was something like 80 pages of hilarious, clean, & decorative fun, with additional blank pages for my friend's family to add their personal favorites.

We've surprised the in-laws a couple of times with a surprise visit from their son (my dh). Once was right before my f-i-l went in for open heart surgery, and the other time was for Father's Day. Both were very special visits considering they hadn't seen their son for several years.

How many pairs of mittens or gloves do you have in your house?

Too many to count!!! Silk, Polypropylene, cotton, leather, fur, & kevlar . . . some with fingers, others without . . . lightweight, medium weight, heavy weight . . . insulated & non . . . short and long . . . undergloves & overmitts . . . clean, dirty, and ones that smell like dog! . . . plain, fancy, & utilitarian . . .and--of course--ones missing their mate!
