My rescue doberman Queenie (adopted last year at the age of 8 years) was chasing a fly around the house last night.

She was so cute with her ears all alert while she was the aggressor, snapping her mouth at the fly.

Then the fly started chasing/buzzing Queenie...and Queenie turned into Weenie.

She ran over to me and ducked her head in between my legs.

I guess my legs were the closest thing to sand she could find to bury her head in.

Now this dog, who truly hates to go out in the back yard by herself, was so afraid of that little (although obnoxious) fly that she spent the night lying outside on the patio.

I kept asking her to come in and she did -- but, once she saw the fly again, she ran back outside.

I tried to kill the darned fly but couldnt. I finally locked him in the computer room and hoped he was dead by morning.

I guess he is. Neither Queenie nor I have seen him today.

Now I'm going to bed.
Love that story, if a dog that big is afraid of flies, should I be afraid of them too??

[quote=todd00;21723448]Chasing this contractor to get an estimate, its been more than a week since he was suppose to get back to me, I write him again and nothing back. He came recommended by a couple realtors I called. I don't know whats wrong with people these days. No one that does what they say they will on time and with some courtesy and kindness. And does the job right. So now I got to start over again, get up to the city and have others look at the job. I'm just so sick of people in this world.

Todd, I would definitely be looking for someone else..and I would want references from people they have done work for. Very frustrating for you.

LOL. The dog is big only in body. In mind, most dobermans are smaller than little house flies.

Most of the time I'm pretty tolerant and laid back, but this morning I just had enough. I had an appointment with a specialist (Nothing major and the appointment was just made yesterday) 50 minutes before I was supposed to be at work. Since the office is just a block from where I work I figured things were OK. Most of the doctors in this group have been very good about being on time. I showed up about 10 minutes before my appointment and waited. And waited. And waited. OK, it was only about 25 minutes after my scheduled time, but... They took me back to the examining room and said the doctor would be in in just a minute or so. I figured they were correct, as he was sitting at the nurse's station entering records into the computer. About 15 minutes later I heard him go into the next room. OK, it's now 10 minutes until I am supposed to be at work and I haven't had lunch yet either.

I just decided that enough is enough, put my shoe and sock back on, went out and told the nurses that I have already waited 40 minutes past my scheduled time, needed to be at work in 10 minutes and could not wait any longer. They offered to reschedule, but I said I would think about it. (There is another specialist in that office). I told them I better not see a charge for a late cancellation either. They informed me that they did not work that way and they would let the doctor know why I was leaving.

Not my normal MO, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I agree totally! Sometimes there are unavoidable circumstances but, too often, doctors think their time (and $$$) is more important than our time. My former cardiologist always overbooked and his patients always waited in his waiting room for at least 90 minutes beyond their scheduled appointments. I put up with that for a couple of years because he's a great doctor but I, too, finally said enough is enough and switched to a cardiologist who has a smaller practice.

Ya, but I'm back to square one again, just more wasted time. I have a couple more I plan to see when I can get up there, just haven't been able to do it yet. I did think of calling the Habitat for Humanity office and asking them who they might recommend. They might at least know people that have a bit of courtesy and kindness to them.

Unhappy self-motivated

One of several personal problems for me is “self-motivated”, it seems that I have several things that should be done, would be nice to have out of the way and I’m too lazy to do them. I simply keep putting the chores off for tomorrow and then never get focused on doing them. I’m mad at myself for his issue of mine.

I'm liking your MO. I am tired of that backcharge threat...like no one else's time is important. It's no secret they overbook.
