Ah, lucky you.

That'll be a largely mosquito and bug-free zone this summer.

The ice is melting around the edges of the bay and this evening I heard my first loon of 2016.

Spring has sprung.

Summer lurks not far behind.

A nice late afternoon/early evening breeze pushed along the melt and by sundown there was open water in the bay. Loons are wailing, geese honking, gulls screeching and ducks quacking.

Spring is for real, finally.

I just saw this, I wished somebody would come visit me, my kids friends used to come here all the time without my kids. They always knew where to get a seriously good free meal. My son got mad cause his friends seemed to like me as much as they did him, and so I never get visitors, had to tell them to stay away.

I am a complete hermit though.

I can relate, though my lack of visitors has more to do with living in the boonies.

I always cooked supper for my two sons and two or three of their friends. And usually enough in case another one or two showed up.

One of my biggest adjustments this past year or so is buying and cooking for one. I really, really don't like it. But I'm learning. I've had to throw away so much food and it really bothered me.

Now I buy "a" pork chop, instead of a package of six. I nuke those depressing, cardboard $1.99 Lean Cuisine/Other Brand of frozen chicken/beef something in tomato sauce with noodles. I have a sandwich for dinner at least once or twice a week, or a can of soup. It's just no fun cooking for one.

So, I really look forward to having a visitor or two, in order to get my slow cooker going, or make a vat of chili, or bbq a couple of racks of ribs.

How about some spicy chickpeas over quinoa?

I'll try anything if somebody else cooks it.

I really cook when I have somebody to cook for, if not, I just eat the same thing every single day, then I will switch.

I have eaten Moscato spaghetti for every day for the past two weeks. I just get 4 pounds of hamburger meat and make it and make little freezer bags. But my wine spaghetti is so good, it can be eaten everyday.

Catch a buzz just eating a bowl.
