The parents are not thinking that next time, they might lose their child- they aren't thinking about the welfare and safety of their potential children. They aren't thinking "One of my kids could be born severely mentally retarded and require lifelong, intensive care that I can't give them if I keep focusing on getting pregnant" What if they end up having another child and this does happen? Will it make them realize then that maybe it wasn't the best idea to 'keep going'?
How is that not irresponsible at all?
B/c according to their extremely extreme & conservative view on procreation, it's not "their" choice...it is God's will. Plain & simple.
To understand the Duggars would mean you are almost along their same religious views. Most are not & that is why they have a show. Many want to try to "figure out" this family.
But by the time someone is having 12, 14, 17 children...what the norm thinks is obviously not important to them as they follow their Bible literally, not social opinion.
I saw a few mins last night & she commented on another mom having a both of her children in NICU & according to Michelle, that is ok b/c it is God's will..
Confusing to the majority.
Still, a decent public family. A little different, but decent & almost wish that was more tolerated than what the media focuses on daily.
I wonder what would have happened if she'd had postpartum depression, or any kind of depression, or anxiety disorder. Not everyone could handle that many kids. I'd lose my mind. I seriously think I'd have to be institutionalized after maybe the first 5 or 6. Would they have kept going? I suppose so. Could have been an awfully miserable life for her and the whole family.
And their having lots of children is anyone's business because....?
If they're going to be in the public eye, having a national television show focused on their lives mostly because they have so many children, people are going to have an opinion about it.
