I watched it. I was disgusted by the Duggar parents long before the doc.
Same, although it is interesting to read how a lot of people in 2010 really had no problem with their lifestyle. I did feel awful for the kids in terms of how the parents used them to fund their own lifestyles, even when the kids were adults and should have been making MUCH more for their contribution. I was absolutely horrified that Jill was forced to film her own birth. I can’t even imagine.
Maybe if people would stop giving money to the big business of controversy….
What does this have to do with this topic? The documentary/revival of this thread has to do with the negative effects that a) this church and b) having a life in the public eye had on the Duggar children- specifically the older female children. I think it’s an important and relevant topic, as there are still a lot of TV shows on in this genre not to mention lots of larger YouTube channels with big, religious families who think it is ok to post their lives and kids on public fora without their consent and without paying them a fair wage.
I’ll revive this thread to see if anyone watched the recent documentary, Shiny, Happy People, and how do you feel now?
I watched it and they are even more disgusting than I thought they were. The way Michelle stares at Jim.Bob (that make just sounds like a dumb redneck) is flat out nauseating. Plus the way she talks is grating.
