We have hardwood floors and I really wanted it for the hardwood. The cat and dog shed so much this summer, I have to sweep, vacuum and wipe the floor to make sure it is clean until the next day. Mr. X has been doing it but not as diligent and I thought a roomba would help a bit.
I don't know if it's worked for my sister or not. They have stained cement floors and I don't think any rugs, so maybe it works well.
Yep, I can see that that would be a good Roomba habitat. I had mine back in 2006 so the later models are probably better too. I inherited it from my inlaws who loved it. Our kitties were not so enamored.
ETA I love stained cement floors. Love it love it.

What was the cost difference with stained cement vs tiles? We have these ugly orangy brown tiles in our kitchen, laundry room and 1/2 bath that I would love to get rid off. All the tiles I looked at are super expensive. I was wondering if stained cement would be the cheaper option?
BTW... I think of the Roomba as more of the daily vacuumer and then you still have to occasionally have to do a good deep vacuum. To me the Roomba just vacuums more often to help keep the dirt from getting ground in too much before you vacuum.
I did love the crop circle comment from my dad. Now every time I go to my parent's house, I look to see if they have crop circles. For a while, he would go behind the Roomba and vacuum to fix them.

Actually, I think they're a lot more labor intensive to install and probably more expensive - I'll ask MrFR and get back to you, but I think he'd charge way more to do concrete than tile.

That's funny! After a while you start to think the Roomba actually is an intelligent life form.
The previous owners here stained the concrete floor of the basement. It was obviously a DIY job, as it peeled shortly after we moved in. I like the idea though, and have seen pictures of beautiful ones.
I actually like doing laundry. I constantly weed out clothing too. Once a drawer reaches capacity, something has to go. On the other hand, there are many, many chores I despise. Vacuuming, dusting and cleaning the kitchen are right up at the top of that list.
Plans to see The Help tonight. I'm not a good movie viewer, I get restless sitting for too long. But, it's a girls' night out, so yeah!
