I'm surprised more people didn't stop, Zimbo, but:
1. It's difficult to judge the motives of people who are probably hurrying somewhere;
2. It's easier to do what the crowd is doing - notice how more people stopped after others stopped to listen;
3. Some people have a hard time watching people perform. I have a weird issue with looking at people who are singing or playing instruments (singing is worse), and I've never figured out what that's all about. I am also very easily moved by live music and would probably start crying. Not what I want to do in a subway station!
