I would just keep things simple: "Sorry, not this year." And if they ask why, you tell them "because I've chosen not to take that particular responsibility this year." You don't owe them any explanations. You owe them no defense. You are not the Scout leader, you're one scout's mother. You are -never- obligated to volunteer to help the troop; your obligation is with your daughter. Help her, encourage her, and be the role model for her that she doesn't have to grow up to be a doormat for others to take advantage of. That is your obligation - not data entry for a girl scout troop.
This thread is over a year old, but I am reviving it just for a quick question...
It is GS cookie time again & all the frustrations have started that others discuss in this thread... Fun , fun!
Just wondering how much cookies sell in other areas? Ours increased to $4 a box, from $3.50! I think $4 is a lot for a box of mediocre cookies ( although I do like carmel delites!) ....
Who determines what the cookies sell for w/ the chapters?

It's $4.00 here, but they also increased the amount that the troop gets (not a lot, but a little).
Most people don't think they are mediocre, btw. I love thin mints. Some of the newer ones are not to my taste, but here the carmel delites and thin mints sell like hot cakes. People buy them to support the girls more than for the actual cookies, I suspect.
The prices are negotiated with the bakers and the council, so it can be different in different parts of the country. The bakers are also not all the same one. The two official bakers are Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers this year.

Thanks, I knew there were 2 different bakers, just wasn't sure how the prices were determined.
$4.00 a box here. We had the Brownies knocking on our door just a few days ago. We have a very Mayberry neighborhood and it was a fun chance to chat with the kids (a couple of brothers even tagged along) and ask them their opinions on which cookies are best. Thin Mints on order!
Original poster here. Surprised to see this thread come back to life.
I just bought two boxes from a neighbor, they cost 4 bucks each. I think that was the price last year. Not sure. Oh and no, I haven't bought anymore cookies from that looney woman I had the shipping issue with. She finally got the hint I was done.
