Don't confuse people with facts! There are just people in the world that want everyone named John, Mary, George and Jane so their delicate sensibilities are not touched.

And his most famous (albeit fictional) namesake, Zebulon Walton! A/K/A "Grandpa".

I don't know how you could pronounce Harry that didn't sound like "hairy."

Darn. Can't rep you at the moment MQ. But the name you sent was definitely better than Belmar!

Is it true that Ringo and Rocco are mostly used as pet names in US?
I would perceive them as cool names.

Well...it would rhyme with "Marry". Which you probably pronounce the same as "Mary". Hehehe.

There have been endless threads on this on the General U.S. forum. This might come as a shock, but for people in many parts of the country, the words "Merry, Mary, and Marry" are all pronounced differently from one another, while in other parts of the country, the words have merged to sound the same. It's the same with "fairy" and "ferry", which are different to me but probably the same to you. I know a woman in Vermont who says "Barry" and "berry" the same way, but she says both like "Barey", and I don't say either word that way.

Here's a simple example:

We say "Harry" to rhyme with "Marry" in the video.

If I were to go to trendy/modern route:
Girl
Brynn
Dallas
Reese

Boy
Zane
Roman
Jace
Cannon
Kellen

Oh! Well, if it were a boy his nickname could be Trey.

Cannon, Roman and Dallas sound like two cities and a very big gun with a ball.

What is Jace? Just NO!

Ok I get it now! And you're absolutely right, I do say Mary, marry, and merry all the same way.
