Oh, how cute! My kids only "security blanket" were their pacifiers when they were tiny. Since they could hardly talk, they always heard me call it a pacifier, but they had their own names for it. My daughters was "Wyah" and my sons was "Fiso"! Lord forbid they lose them at the same time - - Wyah, Fiso, Wyah, Fiso!!

OMG! I can't stop laughing. I can just envision this object falling to the ground... and you looking left- looking right and swiping it, while trying to act TOTALLY normal. You are too funny! The things we'll do for our wee ones...

My girls have stuffed animals that they have to or likes to sleep with or have with them at all times. The one who is 12 almost 13 still sleeps with a tiny little bear named Cocoa that she has had since she was at least 3yo. She even takes it with her to sleepovers.

My 10 almost 11 yo. had a white stuffed bunny she called Snowball. One day about 3 almost 4 years ago Snowball disappeared and hasn't been found since. We have searched high and low for that thing. I think it may have ended up being grabbed up with some garbage and went to the dump. She was absolutely heart broken and we could not find a replacement as she got the thing from a yard sale and it was several years old at the time. She has since found another stuffed animal to replace her beloved Snowball. It is one of those mini TY beanie babies and it's a squirrel named Nuts. That thing goes every where with her, she even had to carry it in her flower basket at my oldest daughter's wedding. She'll even take it into the shower or bathtub with her and bathes him as well. It's NUTS I tell ya. LOL!!

The youngest one has a stuffed elephant named Ellie. She is not as dependant on it as the other two are of theirs. She likes sleeping with it and will ask if we can find it if it's not where she can find it at bedtime, but if we can't find it she doesn't make any real fuss about it and finds another stuffed animal. She does prefer her Ellie tho. She wasn't always that way and she would make a huge fuss if she couldn't find her Ellie at bedtime.

I once saw my 19 yo male cousin bringing out his stuffed elephant to cuddle while watching cartoons. The funny part is that his mother and our aunt just finished making fun of how much he used it.
To this day I wonder if he continued using it when he got married.

Neither me, my siblings or my kids have anything like it. My son is still young enough to start so we will see.

All funny stories to read!

My child is almost 8 years old and has not been particular with anything so far

It may not be a bad thing

My theory is hey, no obsession with anything or anybody!

I think in most cases, parents create the obsession. Like, with my two nieces and nephew--being so close in age probably helped this along--my brother and sil would give them each a certain color of cup to drink from, always. When they got old enough to show a preference, they thought it was amazing how they'd only drink from their color cup, as if it were some huge mystery. Same thing happened with pillows and blankets, they'd go out of their way to make sure the kids had that particular one at bedtime, so now--at least with their parents--they won't go to bed without them and the offering of a substitute will only render an unrelenting hissy fit.

But it's hard to buy extras in advance when you don't know what's going to become their favorite til they've had it for a time--unless you're in the habit of making sure this item is brought to their attention all the time--does that make sense?

That's funny. The only one of us (I'm one of five)to be attached to something was my younger sister. She had a plaid blanket with yarn fringe all the way around it. She couldn't live without it. She called it "fuzz". My mother had the foresight to buy an identical one, but my sister wouldn't have anything to do with it. Her original one was well loved and well worn, the replacement wasn't. It was a battle royal every time my mother tried to wash it.

That is too cute and very sweet of Disney. My dd is 13 and has a favorite stuffed black dog named Pepper since she was 3 that she sleeps with. He's been through the wash a dozen times, even had his nose bit off by the dog and glued back.

I also have a Lab who sleeps w/ a stuffed moose everynight.
