I am going against the grain,,,I think their outfits are totally unacceptable...but it is hip hop dancing... It is a new style of dance that is being taught to kids of all ages in dance studios... Does Hip Hop dance style have moves that suggest things? I guess it is in the eye of the beholder... I just don't think that these 7 year olds think they dance like strippers or that they are doing anything wrong. They probably work very hard and are very proud of themselves...

I do think the costumes are way out of line...I think the way they are dressed suggests more then the moves... If they were in some baggy jeans and a t-shirt (common for hip hoppers), I think people would not have such a beef with the perfomance...

you are right, but i have to say what suprises me is that not one parent has complained????

There is usually always 1 person or some sort of group that always makes a big stink about something, how come nothing here????

I have boys, so it wouldnt have been me......

What do you mean? Not any parents of the dancers?? I have no idea if they complained or not. Maybe they did... I don't know any details of the perfomance other then what I just watched... But they look like darn good dancers...

and the website is 'theyoungturks' so maybe they just don't see it as an issue where ever they are... I have no idea...

But my beef is definitly with the outfits... Would I have a beef with a 7 year old gyrating with a boy...absolutely. I think that would suggest sex.. But with a dance team during a hip hop performace... that is what that style of dance is... and they are pretty good... Outfits,,,,bad...

Sickening and I cannot believe the crowd hooting and hollering...so sad the way this world is headed. This is as bad as Myley Cyrus on the stripper pole and she is/was a teen idol. Nice example or maybe she taught them.

I watched both videos, and frankly the choreographer has improved (barely) from one number to the other. Those 3 girls are in both videos, it's sad that this "Pussycat Dolls" school of dance thinks that this is A) appropriate clothing for children....
B) that these dance moves are extraordinary....

Give them the moves, maybe, with some FREAKING clothing on!

The parents and the dance school are obviously a "classy" bunch? Where are they located San Fernando Valley land of porn or what?

As the mother of 2 girls that were in dance from the age of 2 and in cheer, I find it totally unacceptable. However, this is what has been slowly going on in our dance and cheer places. I'll never forget several years ago at one dance recital I was embarrased because of they way one dance class was doing with MY PARENTS sitting right there. It was too sexual and too much for the young girls. Mind you this was NOT my daughters class.

I'll give you all some firsthand accounts on what actually goes on in most dance studios and cheer gyms:

1. The parents DO NOT always know what routine the kids are doing. The parents are not in the classroom at the dance studios and they are not allowed in the gyms when the teams are practicing their competitoin routines for cheer. For the dance studios there just is not enough room and it is a distraction to the kids. In the cheer gyms they don't want competitors coming in and seeing what they are doing. The cheer gyms are big so parents and kids are constantly coming and going and they can't keep track of all who enter. Sometimes it is not till they are ready to "show off" to the parents what they have learnd that the parents actually see the routine.

2. The costumes......... the parents SHOULD have knows this. At every dance studio my girls have gone to when the instructor had picked out their costume we were shown it BEFORE it was ordered.

3. The dance team in question in this video was a "competitive" dance team. They have parents that WANT and thirst for 1st place. I have a daughter in competitive cheer. I see it. There are some CRAZY parents out there.

4. The instructors........ it is quite possible that the instructors for these girls is not much more than a girl herself. I'd be willing to bet that their instructor is no more than 25. If so, then she has been brought up in the dance/cheer world where slowly the moves and costumes have gone on the wild side. She is used to it. Not that it is a good thing but it is something she sees as "normal". And being at such a young age she may not be a mother at all and understand how a "normal" parent would. These competitive moms are a different breed though.

5. There is a message being sent by the JUDGES! I'd LOOOOOOVE to know where these girls placed in this competition and the outfits and dances their competitors did. I've seen it way too many times and it is the judges also that are pushing these teams to get more and more "out there" to be able to "top the others" so that they can get 1st place. When my 15 year old was in drill she had a competition (this was peewee REC cheer, mind you). It was all the peeweek rec cheer/drill teams competing against each other in the league. My daughters 6th grade drill team wore very nice tasteful costumes. Their dance/drill routine was amazing and very good. At the competition they "nailed it" and did it flawlessly. They did a REAL "drill team" routine as it WAS a "drill team competition". The two teams that beat them out had a ton of slipups AND their costumes were inappropriate for their ages and their dance moves were NOT appropriate for their ages at all. However, the very young judges LIKED the more provacitive outfits and moves. Trust me, all of us parents on our team were flabbergasted when we saw the other teams perform and what they had on........... our kids would NOT have been wearing it nor doing those moves. When they announced those more racy teams as the winners....... we were stunned. We even all said the message the judges were sending to these young girls is that if you want to win 1st you have to dress like a **** and act like a stripper.

All I can say is that maybe we can HOPE that with this coming out like it is that it will change the way some people operate in the dance and cheer world. But I'll bet anything that there are PLENTY of mothers out there that would be willing for their little girls to take the spots of the girls whose parents are more outspoken and against it.

FYI, I'm the poster "momof2dfw". For some reason I can't log on at all so I created a new account.

Well, here it is. Two of the parents speaking about their daughters dance routine and costume. And the mother when asked about the costume used the lame excuse I've heard before, it's normal for competition. UGH!!! The father...... sick. Sick. Dude, that might be your little girl you are seeing but to some prevert she is the next "victim".

YouTube - The Parents of the Little Girls (7 - 9 year old girls) from the Single Ladies Dance Routine Speak!

When my girls get in from school I will show them the 2 videos and get their opinion. I'm sure they both will agree with me. It was inapropriate. I know my 11 year old would not be willing to wear that outfit. I'd have to hold a gun to the 15 year to wear it. Just sayin, I bet from THEIR standpoint they would believe those outfits were a bit too skimpy.

And here's the thing...the father describes his daughter as "a proud kid with really high energy... doesn't really know what she's doing." In other words, the FATHER knows that his daughter's dance moves are inappropriate, but that doesn't matter, because she's oblivious. Idiot!

Listen my sister danced in Las vegas of all places and she also teaches dance and she watched it and called me and said the dance teacher should be fired because of the costumes and the girating and the general lack of the timing was off and the fact that they are opening up their daughters to pedofiles . This father is a typical yupee jerk that does not know one thing about dance most likely !! I think this is bait for pedofiles call it what it is !!! not a dance competition in my opinion a pedofile feast and all that gyrating . It put me in the mind of that show toddlers and tiaras . you know the one where the mom says give the judges the sexy look , wth ? this kid is five what does she know about a sexy look . Pahleeze !!!
