He could also put a flier around town advertising some service - hauling those groceries to an elderly person, house-sitting or pet-sitting when people are out of town, shoveling sidewalks in this weather, and cutting grass/doing yard work in warmer weather. Some of our local farmers hire younger teens for "light" farm work in the summers.

If you have any ski resorts in your part of PA, they usually hire 14 and 15 yr olds for things such as floor sweeping and tray wiping in the cafeteria.

Thanks for all your advice and ideas. We did the newspaper route several years ago but getting up at 4:30 a.m. took its toll on all of us and it didn't last very long. He did earn enough to get a nice motorized scooter, though
I forgot about my paper route. I used to deliver The Grit on Sunday mornings.

Anybody remember "The Grit?"

I loved "The Grit", especially the serials that continued from one week to the next!

cynthylee,
You've bumped up a thread that is four years old, but the answers still apply. I would suggest the traditional jobs like babysitting and pet sitting at this time of year. My daughter took a red cross class to make her even more employable: Caregiving & Babysitting | Red Cross | Babysitting Classes
