My family is moving to Hanover, PA this fall and I am trying to find out more about what neighborhood and schools to consider. I don't think we will plan to live in Hanover but are interested in Conewago or South Western schools. There are neighborhoods that look appealing (at least online) on the western side of Hanover and the southern side. We'd like to be in a family neighborhood setting, not a long drive from groceries/shopping, access to parks/walking areas. Right now we are a good forty minutes out of town and the commute to get anything drives us nuts, but we do live right off a walking trail/sidewalks which is nice. We are very much looking forward to hiking, although we know that is further north or west from the immediate Hanover area. Any advice on schools or neighborhoods is welcome! Thanks.

A few questions...

Are you buying? Renting? How much are you looking to spend, or is that not a factor? By 'Family neighborhood', do you mean suburban? Why Hanover...where will you/spouse be working? Have you been here, and do you have any familiarity with the town and region?

Definitely Southwestern over Hanover in terms of schools.

Thanks! Currently we own and live 30-40 minutes to shopping. Moving we'll start by renting and want to be much closer to shopping. It seems the north west corner of Hanover or the south east near state park.
