I was born and raised in Brooklyn and Bronx, New York. When I finished my 4 years in the army I moved to Lancaster, Pa because my father lived there. My parents were divorced when I was younger so I moved there so that my father and I could get to know each other. I was there from 1988 to 1997. In my 40 years of living I have never been to a place as racist as Lancaster, Pa. The surrounding cities like Manheim, Lebanon, Lititz, New Holland and most of they others have the same racist overtones. The worst part was the other dark skinned people. I guess they were raised in that area so they were groomed to tolerate the racism rather than letting the rest of the world know about it. The only thing worse than a white racist is a black who tolerates it!!!!!! My father still lives in Harrisburg, Pa. It is a sad scenario to me. So many unemployed minorities in that little overcrowded ghetto. The surrounding cities are better looking but I don't know much about the employment situation. If you can stay away from these areas please do so. If not, then all I can say is "good luck".

I saw this. I'm sure Trader Joe's won't be far behind. Lancaster County is really booming these days.

Yeah this is great news but "the target opening date for the center is the fall of 2017." Apparently it takes three years to get throught all the red tape at the local level. "The land development plan, which Lahn said will be submitted in December, would be initially reviewed by township and county planning commissions before being forwarded to township commissioners for their review." That process should not take three years. Some areas of PA are growing in spite of an unfriendly business climate.

you're absolutely right and despite being spitting distance from the train station there will be no apartments and there's concern about traffic
