I have to agree here. In fact, the only reason I'm keeping my credit card (and paying it off every month) is in the extremely unfortunate event that I lose my income for a long time and my emergency fund runs dry. I'm not ashamed to go into debt in that event.

That said, it certainly does not sound like the original poster is in that camp, but maybe I'm wrong. I'll go into debt to keep myself and my family from starving, I won't do it to keep up with my neighbors and/or family.

The OP should take an English course (or two or three) since he is close to illiterate. He can charge them.

As for charging $50,000 in retirement and planning to never pay back a cent -- as he wrote in one post (#40) -- well, he's immoral as well as illiterate.
