I've seen it but usually it's only during the summer and only with the small dogs. Probably don't want to leave their dog in the heat but still idk. Like someone else said usually clerks and managers don't want to deal with it because of separation anxiety and unless if the dog is misbehaved people don't really seem to mind at least in supermarkets. Personally I don't mind but I can definitely see others upset by this.
I love dogs but I dont want a dog in a place where i eat or drink or buy anthing that goes in my mouth.
I love kids too, but I don't want their grubby little hands touching the fruits and veggies either. Nor do I like to see little indentations and even holes in the wrapped ground beef.
I have seen people bring dogs and yes even their cats to the supermarket while they go shopping. The dogs are always those little dogs that yap too much. Their pets are either in the front of the cart like their toddlers or in a bag like a purse. Do you do this? Does this annoy you?
People carry their dogs all over the place, but I've yet to see one in a grocery store. There are regulations against that. I enjoy seeing a cute little dog in a cart or purse and have been guilty of toting one of my small dogs along on errands. People w/ dogs don't seem to expect the world to tell them how cute their dog is, nor do they let them run all over the place. I've seen parents w/ their baby/toddler be very rude thinking everyone enjoys their child's first squeals, words or first steps in a public place like a restaurant.

Can't say I've ever seen a dog do that!
I too love children, especially well behaved ones. I'll never forget the time I saw a little boy in the grocery w/ a straw and stick it into a half plastic wrapped watermelon to suck some juice out. The mom looked the other way!

As a person allergic to pet dander~including dogs~ I feel that idiots bringing thier pets into stores against the ruiles are not only rude, but they are putting my health at risk. Please leave your pets out of stores. As much as I dislike rude children they do not pose as much a threat yo me as your innocent loveable pets. I don't hate them ~ I'm just not ready for another round of hives!!
I've never heard of stores allowing pets. I've only heard of stores allowing service animals for disabled patrons. The only exception, of course, being pet stores.

what happens when a pet owner walks by you with hair on his or her clothing??
I used to be a manager at a convenience store and a truck stop and I had to tell numerous humans to take their pets outside. It is illegal to have a pet outside of a service animal enter any establishment that has open food and drink available. This should be common knowledge along with having on shoes and a shirt when entering said establishment. Anyone who gets attitude when I tell them to remove the pet, put on clothing or put shoes on is asked nicely once to comply, after that they are escorted out without hesitation and are not allowed back in. I refuse to risk my employment because the customer feels they are 'always right'; they aren't.

I've actually seen the exact opposite. I know someone who insists upon bringing his small dog into places where it's explicitly not welcome. Why? Because he's "well-behaved". Never mind that there are many people who really don't want his dog around in these places. And, he's not the only one, by a long shot.
To me, there are appropriate places to bring dogs, and there are places where it's inappropriate. When I see someone with a dog in a store that is not explicitly a pet store or somewhere else where pets are welcome, I roll my eyes at the selfishness of it.
There's no reason to bring your dog into these places, and they should not be there.
