There was an uptick in the number of homicides for 2016, I think, but it was either 2014 or 2015 that the number was the lowest in 50 years. Even with higher number last year it was still way less than than the 500 or so yearly homicides we were tracking in the 90s.

Because Philadelphia is a run-down, economically depressed liberal ghetto with nothing to offer.

At least that's the argument I've heard from some. All people who of course have never set foot in the city, or haven't been in it since 1975.

Last year saw a decrease in homicide compared to 2015. But it was 2014 that had the lowest year.

Also I don't think the National narrative is negative at all at the moment. I believe most people view Philadelphia as an exciting place that has a lot going on. I had two friends recently, from different parts of the country, remark to me that it seems Philly has a lot going on.

The view towards Philadelphia is definitely getting better. As long as it continues to stay off lists like this:

Major U.S. cities with the highest 2016 murder rates

1. St. Louis - 59.3
2. Baltimore - 51.2
3. Detroit - 44.9
4. New Orleans - 44.5
5. Cleveland - 35.0
6. Newark - 33.0
7. Memphis - 31.9
8. Chicago - 27.9
9. Kansas City - 26.4
10. Atlanta - 23.9

Rates are estimates based on latest available data.

I wasn't sure what that building was. Googled it. First link was for the leasing website. Floorplans show balconies...if this is the same place we're talking about.

Yes, indeed. Those are the kinds of lists I was thinking of.

I'm pretty sure apartments at the Divine Lorraine will have balconies. I believe it's only the balconies on the interior of the building that will not be accessible.
