With One Riverside, 500 Walnut and the SLS, there is a large inventory of lux condos in the pipeline.

Update: The new tower got front page coverage in today's Inky. Here's their take: Shorter tower now envisioned for last major Rittenhouse Square-area development site
The high-end stuff, whether rental or sale, seems to be moving smartly in Philadelphia this year.

I note that the revised version of 1911 Walnut is yet another project where the parties called on Cecil Baker to perform (or in this case assist with) emergency architectural surgery. I expect to see a red cross appear on his firm's website soon.

Possibly, but Carl Dranoff projects usually get built.

Given his track record I think he will pull something off eventually.

Carl is definitely one of the better local developers. I would love to see SLS built per the renderings.

I would agree with you, based on what I know about his track record. One poster stated sometime back that hotel projects are difficult to get off the ground. The problem may be more with SLS than with Dranoff. If it goes up without hotel rooms, it would still be taller than One Riverside. That said, I'd like to see the infusion of hotel guests going in and out of a signature building on what would become a prestigious corner.

Guess we'll learn more when spring arrives.

He's a pioneer regarding what we describe today as "gentrification". Old City was one of his early project areas wrt repurposing old factories into living spaces. Took a lot of vision to see how that it would work.

The Cambria Hotel is still going to happen at Broad and Locust, I believe.

I would hope so since it's under construction.

Years ago, you may remember this, there was an effort to name the area just south of Spring Garden St., Franklintown

There's really only what I mentioned: the empty lot on the NW corner of 18th an Callowhill and the parking lot adjacent to the Inquirer Bldg.
I've heard that lot suffers from contamination and would require remediation before any kind of development takes place. There is something being constructed on part of the lot closer to 19th Street, however.

Ah, that would explain it.

There's a lot at the sw corner of 19th and Callowhill if that's where you mean.
