Uniqlo stores at Willow Grove and Cherry Hill Malls are closing. Asiandudeyo, I think you were right in stating that they expanded too quickly.

Like what Target did in Canada.

Interesting to note that Chestnut Street remains open, IMO.

I think it was stated that Chestnut Street and KOP stores would remain open as these are their top stores in the region.

Saks off 5th coming to KoP area, I was unaware is already one in Plymouth Meeting. I would bet that we will see one pop up in CC in the East Market area.

Saks Off 5th to debut April 6 at the Overlook at King of Prussia shopping center

Not retail. But Craig LaBan has a fantastic article in today's Inquirer about the great food scene going on in the NE Philly.

"....it's become clear to me that few parts of the country can match the dynamic diversity of the Great Northeast where 30 percent of the population northwest of the Roosevelt Blvd. is foreign -born. Few places in the city reflect its dramatic demographic shifts so vividly through food. And few areas are so misunderstood, or lacking respect."

Gotta read that article.

Not even other Northeast residents understand the degree to which the area stretching from Oxford Circle north to Somerton has become a ilttle United Nations.

I had been going to the Picanha Grill at Castor and Hellerman avenues before I moved to Oxford Circle for 18 months - in part because of LaBan's two-bell review. In the general vicinity of that churrasacuria you can find Korean, Jamaican, West African and even Mongolian eateries along with a few more Brazlian ones. There's a meat market catering to Dominicans a few blocks south of it.

There are two outstanding supermarkets serving the Russian immigrants that live up that way further north - one at Bell's Corner, the other in Bustleton.

Those Russian supermarkets are better than the couple I've been to in Brighton Beach.
