you get a tan at a tanning salon
you catch your neighbors cat in your yard; running through the sprinklers
you thaw out the hamburger faster outside than putting it in the microwave
you moved here cause Texas was too cold

When the July-Sep storm is declared as Moonsoon season - it is exciting but just check out the Africa-Asia-Northern Australia MOONSOON.
When 45% is declared as humid.
When you can "fry" your hands and feet walking/crawling barefooted on the asphalt
When you first arrive here and it is 112. And you have to say "Honey, it is hot here"
When scorpions, Africanze bees, rattlesnakes are your possible neighbors.
When you see palm trees aligned on the streets instead of powerlines poles
When you're driving next to a golf cart on a regular street
When you see lots of tempting oranges hanging on the street trees but are ornamental
When "Streets" is to the east and the "Avenues" to the West.
When "coyotes" are 2-legged (human smugglers)

When most of the folks at work say "Back Home we ......fillintheblank.....", .....and all of these folks have lived here for 20 years.

when you see mittens on a 60 degree day.

90% of the people you know weren't born here.

Closest I've been to this was in Tucson... it was about 50 degrees on Mount Lemmon, but a good chunk of the snow from two days prior was still on the ground, and about 80 in Tucson (which was an hour drive away).
