I just came across a box of old coins and paper money I haven't looked at in many years. A lot it is WWII-era Japanese money from the occupied Philippines and Korea. Ebay puts some of these as worth some money. But I'm far too ignorant to know how to list it or describe it properly. I think I need to sell these in a face-face transaction. Anyone have some ideas? I have some decent old American coins too, which I wouldn't mind unloading.

Not too sure about the Japanese stuff, but my husband has been doing a lot with United States coins for about 30 years and is a Life Member of the American Numismatic Association. Any chance you can describe in detail what you have for the U.S. coins or take some digital pictures? Feel free to PM me if you'd like......

Your DM's are disallowed. But I'll put it out here. I have an 1807/8 Half Cent Overdate and a 1893 Columbian Half Dollar. I have a bunch of silver clad Kennedy half dollars too. Those are the only US coins I care to part with. Might have an oddball Morgan or Peace Dollar I can part with. I have some good US paper money too, the 1928 red deal $5, a 1934 $5 silver cert and some uncirculated consecutive serial no. one dollar silver certs.

Sorry about that!!!! I had a box checked incorrectly...... they should work now.

My husband said the 1808/7 1/2 cent is probably worth some pretty decent $$ if it's genuine and in original (problem-free and not cleaned) condition. He said the 1893 Columbian is one of the most common early commemoratives and if it's not in uncirculated condition it's only worth from $10-25. Morgan and Peace dollars are impossible to estimate without seeing date/mintmark/condition..... could be worth $20, could be worth $150,000 or more (seriously).

The Kennedy's are worth melt value only, and pretty much any local coin shop is going to be paying right around the same price for them; just don't go to one of those "WE BUY GOLD AND COINS!!!!!!!!" places that set up occasionally in hotels.

Any chance of pictures of any of them? My DM's should be working now; I can give you my email address.

I'll try to get to it tomorrow, but I'm on the road for a week starting in the afternoon. The half cent is in rough shape on the heads side, but very clean on the tails side. I'm not in a rush to unload these and just want to find someone who will appreciate them more than I do. I'm not into coins anymore and these just came from a dead relative's desk, not anything I collected on my own.
