Hi everyone.
I'm in town checking things out and getting out of the rain and cold of Oregon. My brother and I are here just looking around and we decided to take a drive up the Apache Trail. Wow, what a beautiful drive. We went all the way to Apache lake and all I can say is WOW!
I'm an avid fisherman so not only was the drive awesome, the lakes were incredible.
I'm so impressed with everything about the Phoenix area. The streets and freeways are in good shape and exceptionally clean and the natural wonders abound here. For such a big city, you have so many things of beauty here. The desert landscape, the fantastic lakes and most of all, the people. Everyone I've spoken to and dealt with have been wonderful.
We checked out Canyon Lake and Apache Lake and cruised around the east valley for a few days. I'm very impressed. The lakes are absolutely breathtaking. In particular I thought the resort at Apache Lake was a perfect place to spend a few days on the water. Granted it is tough to get to but well worth the trip. I suppose the road to Apache is part of the charm of the place. If it was easy to get to, it would be a zoo like Canyon is in the summer.
Anyway, I wanted to say how much I've enjoyed my trips here for the last 3 years and I can't wait for my house to sell in Oregon so I can be move to the desert.
You guys have no idea how blessed you are living in such a beautiful and diverse area.
In the 3 years I've been coming here I bet I've personally talked to 4 or 5 hundred people from all walks of life and everyone I've talked to with the exception of one person has said they like living in this area. I'll soon be one of those people with a little luck.

Thanks everyone....

I love that first look at Canyon Lake where you come around the curve by the overlook pullout. I never get tired of it.

yes, that part of Arizona, going up (or down) the Apache Trail, is among the great scenic drives of the country....next time, drive all the way to Roosevelt Lake for a view of the largest lake entirely within Arizona (or is Pleasant now bigger??).....also, think about hiking in the Superstitions at your choice of a few official and not-so-official trails off the Apache Trail...

classic Arizona landscape!
