My sister is visiting on a couple of days, and I suggested a boat trip on one of the lakes past Mesa. But I have no idea which one is best, and which ones offer meals on the boats etc. Has anyone been on one of these trips and can advise me?

When I drove out here last time, I noticed a park pass was required, so I'll have to get one of those too just to park in the area?

thanks

The Dolly Steamboat on Canyon Lake is fun.... they do have a dinner cruise which I have not tried. The scenery is lovely. I'm not sure what you mean by a "park pass"... when I was there last, there was no issue with parking in the area and needing any kind of a pass. But, it's been a while.

Personally, I'd just go to canyon lake and rent a boat. Have fun on the water, then (when you're hungry), drive a couple of miles up the road to Tortilla Flat. It's an old stagecoach stop that's now a really good restaurant and a gift shop. Their burgers are great.

Canyon is more attractive than Saguaro. There is no use fee if you are going to the marinas to ride a tour boat.

The pass is only if you are parking in the boat parking or day use areas. If you are just going to the restaurant, no pass is needed.
My vote would be for Canyon Lake as well. A very beautiful lake and the Dolly Steamboat ride is pretty cool.

Saguaro is fairly easy to get to, useful if you're in a hurry or in a rental car, etc.

This thread is great. My dad is coming to visit next week and I was trying to find a way to catch some nice scenery and kill half a day. With that said, Desert Belle or Dolly Steamboat? They're both 90 minute tours and almost the same distance. Any feedback? Thanks!

Dolly! Saguaro has some nice spots but Canyon is pure eye candy. Even the drive out there.
