Yes it's gone down the last several years little by little. I used to take kids there for school clothes and pop over at lunch a couple times a month, I only worked 10 minutes away. I stopped doing that about a year and a half ago.

I personally don't like it here either. I've been here, going on my 15th month and we're saving up and planning on moving to Providence, RI end of June 2008.

My fiancee who was raised in Michigan really misses the snow.

I was born and raised in San Diego, CA then did my time in the army going from place to place (My fiancee was in teh marine crop), we got out, couldn't get jobs at all (she did wiring, I repaired helicopters) but that whole military training helps get you good paying jobs is crap as I looked to moving anywhere in the country and no one would even consider my military training as exsperiance.

Anyways, I can't stand the heat and sure I've heard it takes two summers to get use to it and I'm almost at the end of my 2nd summer and I'm not use to it.

I live in what I think is a fairly safe area, a lot of car theft but I've never had a problem but I was shot at coming home one night from work. At a 4 way intersection, I had the green light, a car was sitting at the red, right as i was going through they gunned it and cut me off, I slammed on my breaks, flashed my lights at them, didn't even honk or anything, they get over to the right lane and hit there breaks, so I speed up to pass them figuring they were just going to yell at me and as i passed they started shooting, not cool!

Anyways, she misses the snow, I miss the ocean, Providence seems like a good compromise. But yeah, a lot of the people are rude, I seriously do think MANY OF THEM are out of state people who dont like it here. MOST of the locals I've met who were born and raised in this state are real nice, some aren't, most are, it's the out of state people who aren't nice. Sure i'm from out of state but I can admit most have really bad additudes about this place and they show it all day every day.

I have a bad additude about this palce as well but I dont show it to anyone unless someone asks me if I like here, I ask them if they want the truth, they say yes, I let them know how I can't stand it.

I wouldn't recommend anyone move here though if I were asked my opinion. Seems most people who move here hate it. I had high school friends who were out here, all of them have moved out of state, hating this place. I'm working on getting out too, it was alright for about the first month, after that I couldn't stand it.

I never heard of this. As a native, it took me oh about 31 summers to get use to. (By the way, I'm 32).

Each summer got worse for me until I couldn't stand it anymore. And let's not even talk about getting into the car when it's been in the sun and is 160 degrees inside (For real, I saw it on the news, they put thermometers in cars and they are all around 160 after being parked in the sun an hour.)

I went to the mills a few times after having freshly moved here, at that time I thought it was ok place, not any more, last few times it was looking rough in there, to many characters, I felt like I needed to clutch my purse the whole time I walked around. I will not be going there ever again.

Someone I used to work with was a Chandler cop and he resigned because he was actually in danger while in the mills. He's run into gang bangers he'd previously arrested and they'd go after him in the mills. The guy was carrying two guns off duty just to feel safe in there. I don't blame him for leaving his job as a cop.

I don't believe any one place is paradise. There is some real hard sell back east here about Phoenix.
This notion of PHX primarily as a retirement magnet may have historical roots but is no longer accurate. To be sure, a lot of people retiree here, but today's immigrant demographic is much younger than retirement age. And the biggest group of interstate movers here comes from California by a long shot. I mentioned this some time ago, but it is still mind-boggling. AZ DOT published numbers showing that 35,000 California drivers licenses were surrendered for AZ licenses - in the first 4 months of 2007! Texas was second and Illinois third.

Oh thanks for reminding me. OMG I remember doing that same thing coming home from work one night in Tempe back in 1993, except I honked. Well I'll never forget it was a dark rainy(how can you forget rain) night. That car followed me and tried to push me off the road, this was before cell phones. I finally zipped away from them as my heart was pounding. Please don't honk or yell at anyone on the roads, it may mean your life and it's not worth it.
