I've read a lot on differences between Toronto and Phoenix in terms of living conditions. However, I haven't yet run across the whole financial aspect of living.

To my understanding after receiving employment and obtaining my TN Visa, I then move down and begin work.

I found that the state tax in Arizona is about 3-4% on income. What about federal tax? What other taxes would I have to pay In Total?

Also, I'm not sure if there is anybody currently living in Arizona that moved from Canada but what about paying taxes back to my home country (Canada)? How would it work for me when filing my income tax.

What about getting a place to rent and financing a car? Does it depend more on my salary or my past credit history here in Canada.

Oh and one more thing. How’s the demand for computer programmers down in Phoenix?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in Advance!!

Okay, I'll answer a couple. You might want to ask your general questions in the appropriate forums. You will have to pay state, federal, and social security taxes. Federal taxes depend on your annual income after deductions. Your employer should pay half of your social security tax. To finance anything, a bank will look at your credit score with TransUnion, Experian, or (crud I don't remember the name of the thrid one). You can look up your credit and your score to find out if you have good credit. Phoenix has a good job market, and we have several computer programming friends who have no problems holding on to a well paying job.

hey thanks for the reply. Sorry new to this forum and wasn't sure where to post my question.

I hear that tax on income can get up to 25-30%.
Also If I haven't established any credit in the US, then my credit I’ve built here is almost irrelevant??

You really need to check out the tax thing...don't rely upon a msg board.

Programmers are in demand here. It's a nice city, very, very dif from Toronto.

You need to do some serious research before you move. Good luck!
