Things like students showing up late, wearing earplugs in class, dressing like gangbangers---all could easily be eliminated in order to provide an environment more conducive to learning.

All good points - and I'm sure that parents who have kids in the schools would have many other suggestions for improvement.

But suggesting that homeowners in the community that do not have kids be exempt from paying taxes????? Nuts.

Exactly. It's part of what living in, and as, a community is all about.

My wife and I visited Az. last month and looked at homes in the Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert area's to possibly purchase in the near future...property taxes were posted on each individual property we viewed for the year 2010, are you saying these figures are incorrect or dated?

Yes, since it is 2011, and 2012 Assessments have been sent out. My TH assessment dropped 56% from 2010 to 2011. The listing agents are sloppy about that. They are also sloppy on accurate HOA fee information.

Roscoe, most likely, they have gone down. And, if you are used to the real estate taxes of RI (as indicated by your profile, you'll feel like AZ real estate taxes are dirt cheap!

But we have stare income tax. Isn't RI one of the states that does not have a state income tax?

You can find out the exact and correct amount of taxes (and more) by looking up the property on the county web site. You only need to know the address.

JKGourmet ...RI has an income tax. RI has every tax they can think of. RI property taxes are 3 to 4 times that of AZ.
The state of New York has 8 state workers pension plans...Rhode Island has a 100.
Not kidding!!!
