No. From what I understand of the conversation, because of the way the guy who hit the old man looks and because it was a hit and run, it is assumed that it's a possibility that he is an illegal immigrant. Because the assumption is that illegal immigrants live in poverty, it is a possibility that those who stole the groceries were illegal immigrants. No one has stated absolute facts, just opinions of possibilities based on our situation with illegal immigration in Arizona. This turned into a discussion about illegal immigration because of those assumptions, and because we see the problems with illegal immigration right in front of us every day.

I don't believe that racial profiling is always malicious. Illegal immigration is a real problem right now, and it so happens that most illegal immigrants in Arizona are of Mexican descent. I have many friends of Mexican descent, and it just may be that some of them came to the US illegally at some point. I don't know. But the fact is that since the influx of illegal immigration in recent decades, crime has increased in Phoenix. I watched the news recently and there were 3 main stories which involved "undocumented immigrants" who committed murder or theft. If I see someone with browner skin than mine on the street, I would never say "go back to Mexico, you don't belong here". Most of the illegal immigrants from Mexico are nice, hard-working people who would bend over backwards to help a person out. But, when you're dealing with large numbers, there are going to be people who do bad things among a certain race. There are plenty of selfish, corrupt, evil white people, but I'm not going to hate all white people because of it. But, if a lot of white people were in a concentrated area, and crime noticeably increased, I would make certain assumptions. That's just how it is. It's not racist unless you single out individuals and assume they're going to kill you or steal your car just because their skin is browner than yours.

Anyway, this guy killed an old man and then ran. That looks suspiciously like he may not be documented, just because it's happened before...not that white people don't hit and run either, but the basic point is that it's a generalization based on current events.
