I don't seem to be having much success uploading the little video here, but Vimeo took it. I wish I'd washed the windshild this morning. My dog was very quiet. Maybe she was scared.

REALLY!!!!! You take one video of a very small section of Sunnyslope and you judge the whole area???? You can not tell the future so you don't know where any area in the world will be 1,5,10 or even 20 years from now. I'd rather live in sections of Sunnyslope than many sections of questionable other parts of Phoenix. Stop making generalizations, including all of the areas you mentioned. It's not accurately informative.

A lot of Sunnyslope looks like this. Some parts have more trailers than others. It's looked junky like this to me for fifty years now. I'm sorry if I raised your hackles Crystal. Why don't you post some pictures of the really nice parts (Mountain preserves excluded) so this will be more fair and balanced? Although I'm a native Phoenician, I don't think I laid eyes on Sunnyslope until I was twelve or thirteen. The area I filmed here is just a few blocks from John C. Lincoln which was the question posed by the OP.

Every city needs a place for low income rentals and industrial complexes and the east side of Sunnyslope fits that bill. Think that the best area for revitalization would be heading north from Dunlap across from the high school up to the mountain preserve.

I'm sure that people said the same thing about the Garfield & Roosevelt neighborhoods 20 years ago. That they would never be revitalized in their lifetime. But for access to light rail, uptown Phoenix, the mountain preserves and two freeways think that Sunnyslope is prime for gentrification.

I remember the blisters on my fingers from using non-electric grass shears when I was kid. We had to keep that grass trimmed down in the chain link fence in the back yard. No junk or trash allowed and sweep the front porch, patio and driveway everyday. We weren't rich but we did take pride in our home. I rarely see this anymore. If I were buying a house now, I would be on the Google Maps and Google Earth checking out the neighborhood I was considering. With the satellite imagery you can see trash from outer space. Some people don't mind four or five broken down cars in the back yard. You can get closer and closer and even drag and drop the little yellow man down for a street view. He'll take you up and down streets for views of the fronts of homes. I'm beginning to wonder how many people are buying these nifty little drones with a video camera that you can fly around with a remote control?

Sunnyslope is not violent or dangerous, just poor.
