The advertising jingle for Berge Ford still runs through my mind at random moments.

At Three-Sixty-Four East Main, in Mesa!
Come to Berge Ford!
And we know you'll
Buy from Berge Ford, come what may!

not to get all picky, but the address of the car dealer/Chinese restaurant at the corner of Scotts and Camelback would have to be a 71xx address since Scotts Rd is 7200E.....

perhaps Paradise Motors was in the former Camelback Mall area, now occupied by the Waterfront array of buildings

That sounds right, "two blocks south of Camelback" which always bugged me as a kid because where I lived, due to Camelback Road's southward curve east of 48th into Scottsdale, Highland was several blocks north of Camelback"

Agreed. However, looking at the Historic Aerials overhead, in 1962 that address is a vacant area. By 1967 the Camelback Mall shopping area at 70th and Camelback was there, but nothing between 68th and 70th on the south side of Camelback (which would be for an odd address, with evens on the north side) and by 1970 the place was still vacant. The 1978 aerial showed a new building, currently Camelback Square, at 69XX.

As an aside, the latest aerials (and Google and Bing maps) show what looks like a target symbol, concentric white rings with an "R" in the middle, on the top level of the parking garage next to Macy's on the north side of Fashion Square. Anyone know its story?

Could be some kind of superimposition on the photo for some technical reason known only to Google. My first thought was it could also be an emergency helicopter landing pad in the event of a medical emergency in the mall, but that seems unlikely based on how close the light fixtures would be to the whirling blades.

I thought a helipad as well, but helipads are supposed to be square with an "H" aligned with north. It's on the Historic Aerials and Bing Maps site as well. Definitely too close to the lights. Maybe "R" as in an homage to Robert Sakowitz?

Okay, I did some research and think it's part of the “Fire Fighter Safety Building Marking System" and is a warning sign for firefighters - it denotes that it is a truss construction, which can be particularly dangerous to firefighters who have to enter through the rooftop of the garage:
Truss signs: what is the Fire Fighter Safety Building Marking System?

The Berge Ford (Bird Forge?) jingle was based off of the 1968 Mustang commerical:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRx2xzz7cJc

But I thought the street number was 256 E Main in Mesa

"Only Berge Ford makes it happen.
Only Berge Ford leads the way.
Let them show you,
Ad we know you'll
Drive a Berge Ford come what may."
