I like the old method of figure out monsoon 3 days of over 55 degree dew points. We really are drying out now to say monsoon has started with the exception of the tropical storms that were pulled up here.

So is the inside of my oven...

Actually, I just spent the week back in the Valley, the place of my youth, helping my mom move. At 6:30 on Saturday morning it was toasty but not oppressive; sweating (perspiring for the sensitive audience members) actually worked because the humidity was low enough. I've spent summers in Louisiana, Florida, Alabama and Kuwait, and there's no comparison when it's 85-90 degrees there versus PHX. When it pushes past 105 it's less fun, especially moving boxes and furniture as in this past weekend.

Time will tell. Lord knows the meteorologists in the Valley are notoriously inaccurate. For how little the weather changes out here, they still manage to screw up half the time.

You do realize that their predictions are based on scientific models of weather patterns and that for various reasons those weather patterns can change which then updates the forecast. Also, monsoon activity is very hard to predict with any sort of accuracy as it can happen at a moments notice. Meteorologists in the valley are no different than anywhere else as they are all working off the same information.

Yes, Im aware.

I came from the Midwest, where weather would change by the hour most of the year. Those guys managed to forecast exceptionally well. I came here and was shocked at how poor their predictions are, but also the way they present it. Its a joke! Storms are storms, models are models. Its up to the meteorologist to put their weather knowledge to the test, to read and know the patterns, to make their educated guesses. Here they cant do it for squat.

And monsoonal activity is actually quite easy to predict from what Ive read. Its the same ol, same ol weather pattern, that hits during the same time frame every year, its very predictable. What these guys have to forecast is child's play compared to what the Midwest has to deal with.
