How was it? How bad were the crowds (if any).

I went tonight. Ordered online to pickup which took about 2 hours. When I got there my pizza was not ready, so took about 2.5 hours total. The line to dine in was 200ish people but seemed to be moving quickly.

Lou Malnati's is top notch Chicago style pizza. A co-worker told me the line stretched all the way down when he went. The Chicago pizza can take upwards of 40 minutes to bake so the waits could be quite long. Fry's does sell their frozen pizza that's worth checking out if you're waiting for crowds to subside.

I might take a crack next weekend.

Having lived in Ill-Annoy in the past (big mistake)...we had gone to Lou Malnatti's a couple of times. The pizza wasn't bad, but since I'm not a fan of chunky tomato sauce, I'm not a big fan of Lou's. Might try it again, though, now that they're in the area. Just wish they'd get rid of those slimy tomato chunks...kind of remind me of blood clots. Hey, is anybody hungry now?

Many times ... and that is why I am not going to rush to get there.

Yes, but the comments were about Chicago style "pizza" in general and were on target.

I went tonight and was in line at 5:50pm. Their managing the crowds well and have an efficient system in place to meet the demand. In total I was there just shy of 90 minutes from the moment I stepped in line to walking out the door.

The pizza was fantastic. I went with the pepperoni deep dish.

Me and my girlfriends went on opening day. The crowd was pretty big, but they had a very efficient system in place to get the line moving. One of my friends is from IL so she was excited to share this with us. I've never had chicago pizza before (originally from NY ). It was super delicious. I highly recommend it. I had the "Lou" pizza without mushroom. I'm kind of obsessed with veggies, but I did try bites off my friends "classic" with all the meat and that was really good too. Can't go wrong with Malnati's .
