Up to 75 mph winds, BIG lightening show and thunder rattling the house. Watched one big gust take my Weber Kettle bbq that has fire bricks inside it to stop it from being blown over (and to retain heat when smoking) and toss it around like it was nothing. Tore the cover off which rapped around the handle of my push lawnmower pushing it off my patio into the rocks in the yard.
Neat show of Mother Natures power, that was for sure, winds at Luke AFB recorded at 69mph!
Last night's storm was the first in my memory where the Weather Service was telling people to take cover since we left GA/NC...

Quote:
A major monsoon storm moved through the Phoenix metro area Monday night, bringing a wall of dust, high winds that downed power lines and rain to areas of the metro area.

More than 100,000 customers were without power because of storm-related outages, according to the two companies that provide electricity to most of the Valley.

PHOENIX - Powerful storms made their way through the Phoenix area Friday night, heading out to the southwest.

The storm included blowing dust, severe wind gusts and heavy rain, impacting people all over the Phoenix area.

The National Weather Service alerted those in the path of the storm to take cover.

Visibility on the roads was very low in the path of the storms and winds reached about 60 mph.

Yeah. Awesome. Without power from 7:30 PM to 2:30 AM. Couldn't sleep as it was too hot and I was worrying about my dog who has a breathing issue (collapsing trachea). Finally fell asleep after the power came back and got up less than 3 hours later for work.

Power stayed on, quite a bit of rain, dropped the outside temp to the mid 70s. Nice.

Scottsdale got pounded hard. Power outages, flooding, debris everywhere. Wasn't much fun at all. I love a good thunderstorm, but this one was downright violent. It ripped the canvas off of our patio umbrella frame!

Not a single drop of rain at my house. Just dust, strong wind, and lightning way off in the distance. Nothing special about this "storm." We've had worse this year.

Not a good storm in my book. Just thick dust here. Windy but not that bad. Typical.
