Driving tips for Jury Duty Downtown (Superior: parking, buildings, paycheck)

When I was on jury duty, one of the jurors who lived on the west side of town said he liked to use Van Buren. I live east so can't confirm or deny his preference.

Jury duty.........a total scam. All the lawyers get paychecks, the Judge, the clerk and list goes on and on. What does the juror get?.........no place to park, pays for parking, loses days from work and gets what?........eight bucks a day.


Then........they go on how wonderful you are by showing up. Ya, if you don't you get fined, jailed or both.

Well, the parking is free, but I do agree that it's a bit unfair. I was on a county grand jury, which is two days per week for four months. Grand juries get used a lot because it's a cost-effective way to indict people, since jurors are getting paid a couple bucks an hour.

Parking for MCSC is free with a shuttle to the court house. And I think they paid me $1 a mile one way last time and they offer more for others (non-self employed) I think.

I always think of the jury of your peers shtick. If you're in court for certain crimes I ain't your stinkin peer!

Sure, I get your point. I view it as a cross check on "the system". Without getting the citizenry involved in the process, police and the government attorneys could just throw anyone in prison.

Agreed. It is civics 101. AND I get the added bonus of people watching for a day.
