If we had legalized weed, we would drink less

Maybe move to Utah instead?

When I worked in Japan, I was quite surprised to see beer sold in vending machines.

Try living where it is cold and dark all winter. The choices are booze or suicide.

Beer, Sake AND whiskey in my hood. The local mom and pop shop owner even showed me his illegal all night machine he had hidden down an alley, you know, in case I had a late night emergency.

Cities or states do not make a drinking problem. Drinking is a personal responsibility. Alcoholism can happen anywhere.

How much were you drinking per day in your "Leaving Las Vega stage?"

Phoenix is a car town w/ little public transpo. Do people Uber it when drinking or take the risk of driving?

Just curious, I don't imbib much anymore and I never drink and drive.

You've offered nothing to support your random subjective claim. I checked and Arizona is on the lower half of alcohol consumption in the USA by state.

I only know of 2 states with strict alcohol sales laws (Utah and Pennsylvania). When I moved to PA I couldn't buy a six-pack unless I went to a pizzeria. But I could buy a case from a state sanctioned place. It was like Canada. I was used to Michigan and Illinois where I could buy beer anywhere. AZ is normal, not lax.

When it comes to alcohol people need to own their own problems to get better. Blaming a state or town is just an excuse.

Spend some time in the south. ABC stores, no sales on Sundays, liquor only at the ABC stores, stores close at 6pm, dry counties etc.

Some of NE is set up the same way.

Compared to that, buying liquor at 1am at a drive thru on a Sunday is lax. That’s not a bad thing.
