Well, I assume you're jealous since your golf cart can't even reach the speed limits in Sun City.

Do you really need to be traveling 75-90 mph, weaving in and out of traffic.
Driving above the speed limit does not equate driving recklessly.

As for the OP you may want to consult an attorney as to your query. Offering the traffic school may be the compromise carrot Scottsdale dangles. If you challenge that could come off the table.

They're set low to procure revenue. Just ask Paradise Valley. I got a $271 ticket for going SIX miles over the speed limit. FORTY-SIX MPH with the flow of traffic. Tatum Blvd. between Clearwater Parkway and Mockingbird Lane. Whenever I visit the area, I purposefully slow down and double flip off each and every white SUV camera I see.

I've long posted periodically that that's how they avoid property taxes in their entitled empire.

Then let me tell you about the young punk a-hole in his $100K+ sports car in the very same stretch of road, driving on the right shoulder -- off the road, above the curb -- because he just couldn't bear to wait behind all the plebes blocking his way.

I have a feeling those speed traps didn't catch his as-.

Yep, I will not drive on Tatum Blvd. through Paradise Valley if I can help it. I can understand the need to control excessive speeds, but citing somebody driving 5 or 6 MPH over the limit is ridiculous. Revenue generation is what it's all about, not safety. Speed cameras don't nab the impaired, the reckless, the wrong way drivers, or the inattentive idiots who are the primary cause of accidents.

It's disgusting that they only give you 3 weeks to pay the citation. Not everyone is able to do that. I hope you find the answer you are looking for. It's logical to assume that after getting served you'd be able to take the course, but they probably see it as trying to avoid paying the citation, so maybe not.

My experience was with Tatum Blvd in Paradise Valley. I'm not even going to get started on that. I'm having a nice morning.
It is actually pretty simple - do not break the law. Then do not assume you can pick and choose.

DUDE, I had a brand new job. I never had occasion to drive south on Tatum until then. I did not "break the law" because in almost every other freaking place six miles over the speed limit is considered a grace period, capiche??

And when you're going SIX MILES over the speed limit WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC DRIVING SAFELY it's hardly "breaking the law."

You come on almost every thread with your "letter of the law" business. Great way to win friends and influence people!

Bunch of Prius drivers in this thread. They're probably the ones I curse at holding up traffic.

5+mph over the speed limit is the usual flow of traffic.

This isn't 1956. Current generation vehicles are very safe. Traffic can go faster safely; the municipalities just want revenue.

Someone who obeys the law and drives close to the speed limit drives a Prius and holds up traffic. Wow.

Maybe all the speed maniacs and impatient morons drive souped-up Camaros or huge pig-up trucks. I certainly see lots of them racing around, cutting people off and turning sharp corners like they think they own the roads.

See, I can make assumptions too.

I try and keep it say 5-7 over the limit. Not much more. It's not unusual while driving on the 60/202 to see a car on the shoulder of the road with a police car/flashing lights parked behind them.
