Also, if you have to blow it up -- and can do that with just your lungs, as compared to using a machine, it is probably too small. Or, if when you lay down in your pool and your arms & legs hang over the side, it is probably too small.

Were you talking about pool size or something else?

Hooray, finally someone comes up with a number. Not for a Catholic family, or the Osmond family, either. Just me.

When you can't swim 1 lap, then it's too small. Or it takes only 5 seconds to get the other side of the pool, when you swim 1 lap, then it's too small.

Should be big enough that you can have a shallow end and a deep end (maybe with a diving board is good). Kind of like the size of the pools in Phoenix apartments and hotels. Those are excellent sizes. Look at one of them and try to get that.

My wife is Catholic and I'm a non-Catholic. Guess I have to use my dog as the criteria.

So if my Yorkie can't swim in it, it's too small.

Im in the process of looking at houses now and noticed that they sometimes mention "play pools". I guess thats because they are too small to actually swim in but I guess if you have a small yard, its bettern then nothing..

Hey Rammie,

Play pools means that they are shallow on the sides with a deeper middle. Its really common in newer homes and it doesn't have anything to do with size of the pool. They are usually something like 3-4 ft on the edges and about 6ft in the middle.

Diving pools usually have one end that is 8ft+ on one side with a shallow 3-4ft side on the other. Diving pools are not as common these days in newer homes anymore.

When you see the word spool instead of pool, that ought to tip you off that its too small to do anything but sit in.
