I agree, I wish Mr. Arpaio would be more careful about his tactics and image (the spectacle thing), so that other Sheriff's will follow his lead on illegal immigration.

Love Joe!

Other Sheriffs around the country are following his lead on a number of things including the immigration enforcement and chain gangs.

Tent cities are also being set up

BTW: Charles Barkley will be spending 10 days in "Joes Jail" - an he will be assigned to Tent City

I never thought I'd say this, but I miss Rick Romley. At least when he was in office there was some semblance of checks and balances with the MCSO.

it's only 5 days - plus he'll be on work release so he'll spend most of his time there sleeping

He is going a great job - HE IS DOING HIS JOB. He is a shining star. In the world of business/politics the people that actually do their job, ask questions, challenge others to justfiy their action or should I say lack of action tend to shine because everyone else is to busy kissing each others ass and for what, a raise.

No matter how he does it because of the actions taken his job and outcomes will never go unnoticed, there is no quiet behind the scenes. Why should there be, we have enough people who b#*tch and complain quietly behind the scenes and what good has that done. Now that something is being done about criminal behavior and other areas that need attention people want to take nag about it. If one breaks the law then they do the time, if one does not belong in the US and hasn't done what they need to do to be here then they need to go. We/country can't afford to support ourselves as it is, why support others.

At the same time:
I don't know much about the restrictions that do and don't allow immigrants to work in the US but the government should figure something out. I feel bad for those that are here simply to work and feed their family like the rest of us. It makes me sad to see men waiting on the side of the road in hopes someone will give them a break that day just to make a few dollars to eat. Obviously, their circumstances are bad enough that many see no other option and are forced to leave their family and homeland to get a job here.

Now that our economy went to crap and everyone is loosing their jobs lets see how many Americans get off their high horse and trim their own shrubs, flip burgers, wash cars, landscape, clean hotel rooms, etc. Imagine, all I hear about is how everyone is filing for unemployment. That's a bunch of s*@t.

The restrictions do not allow ILLIGAL immigrants to work in the US.....HUGE difference. And why should we allow them to work here??? Are they not doing something Illegal by being here????? If they want to come here to make a better life for their families they should do it the legal way....bottom line. Otherwise, they should not be allowed to work here.......they should be deported.

Another encroachment on civil liberties I disagree with are the traffic cameras - by your logic you must be hugely in favor of them since they only catch the "criminals" on the opposite side of the law - or is it okay to encroach on other people's civil liberties, but not yours?

I'm a good law abiding citizen with a legal career and I don't like him :-p

I have very short hair and do not smoke pot.

I sleep just fine, but thank you for your concern. How exactly is it an "encroachment on civil liberties"? One of those people who try using legal terms learned in High School to try and sound smart by slamming the police because they got a ticket by the evil, bad popo!

Grow your hair long, smoke some pot and go paint some peace signs if you want to be a hippie.
I came from a Republican background (parents), but voted Libertarian since the late 70s. You don't see it but I see the trend: There is a greater crackdown on civil liberties and Joe is at the forefront.

You may be laughing, but eventually some of what you do will eventually become illegal and a misdemeanor. We are becoming more of a totalitarian society. It's Fascism without the racist stuff. Fascism is where there is a partnership between private industry and government. This has certainly been happening in the last 12 months where your taxes and mine go out to support the big business. At the state level, Arizona is working on killing your private lifestyle.

This is the America that the sheople allowed by default.
