Also check into Payson. My uncle lives there (retired) but zips to PHX to see the kids all the time.

BTW, you realize if you post this same question over on the Albuquerque forum, we'll talk you into moving to ABQ, right?

If you lived in Goodyear/surprise/Buckeye/Avondale would you most likely have to commute to Phoenix to work? That would be a pain after reading how bad the traffic is downtown. Or do a lot of people work around the burb? Thanks

Most work somewhere else from where they live whether it's Goodyear or Mesa. Relatively few jobs are downtown. Employment, like everything else, is spread out. That is why the advice here is a always get the job first, then decide where to live. There are good places to live in every part of the metro area and it all looks the same so it's not like you have to live in a particular city. Being close to work is important to quality of life. Of course, its only good till you change jobs.

Prescott has plenty to do for the retired crowd. Lots of places to eat and to shop.....

Prescott sounds very nice and the weather is great. But there's not much do do for young people? And it would be a far commute to any of the closer suburbs.

Payson is significantly smaller than Prescott, so there would be much less to do. However, a lot depends on what interests you. If you are into outdoor activities, you might really like either location.

So many choices! I don't want to live by a lot hicks, and I read in Prescott its either hicks or retired people. How about Buckeye? Is it a nice area, or more run down?
