Short term solutions:

Alternative work schedules (four 10 hour days, and/or afternoon and night shifts, and/or weekend shifts).
Telecommuting.
Park and ride centers.
For those who can: live closer to work.

Long term solutions:

More employment centers in the far SE valley. Queen Creek, etc, needs to figure out a way to attract businesses to their towns so their residents don't have to travel so far to work.
Eventually, a freeway will have to be built. Since it takes so long to plan and then fund such a project, now's a good time to start.
Perhaps, someday, the light rail will reach that far out.

I would like to see the light-rail go north, otherwise I don't think I will ever ride it since there is no need for me.

How about it going south - so that those who don't even have a freeway would have some means of mass transit??

I'm not a big fan of the light rail...

...but since they did go forward with it, building a line paralleling the I-17 to the Deer Valley area only makes sense.

Sure it can go south, but it's already in the south part of town, why not go north? That would make the most sense, go where the people are, not to the deserted subcommunities.

I'm talking Queen Creek, Johnson Ranch, Florence, Gilbert, Chandler etc.

These are NOT "deserted" Josh.

And, there are LOTS of people in the areas I mentioned.

BTW - Glendale is trying to accelerate the expansion / extension of the LR into Glendale. Again - a logical move - and again, lots of people

Moving it into Glendale would make sense, getting to the Cardnials stadium would be a breeze.

You said south, not south east, so I was assuming you were refering to South Phoenix.

If you had read my previous post with Ritche_az, we were talking "south" to the areas I had mentioned.

There is a lot of Eminent Domain to do with taking the LR west - but then again, that would be true most everywhere

Maricopa needs assistance. There are a whole lot of people that live in Maricopa and work in the Valley.

What about these people?

But that's your decision, dude!!!!!! If you like being an isolated Loner that's your choice. You don't decide for everyone else.
