We recently spent our vacation in your beautiful state and had a wonderful time. It made us miss the west so much (we’re currently in NC, originally from Denver) that I’ve begun looking for a job in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. A special thank you to the wonderful folks at the Lodge on route 66, Los Olivos in Scottsdale & the 3 Palms!

glad you enjoyed it.....

I've been here for many years and don't know where the "Lodge" is on Route 66 and don't know where the "3 Palms" is......

don't forget that living/working somewhere and vacationing somewhere can be very different experiences....

From the websites: The Lodge on Route 66 - Grand Canyon Hotel, Williams, Arizona - Luxury and Upscale Hotel

The Lodge on Route 66 is Williams' only upscale luxury Route 66 Motel. This Grand Canyon hotel is located in the Heart of Williams and is within walking distance to the historic district, Old West main attractions, Train station, shops, parks, restaurants, and night life!

Scottsdale Hotels | 3 Palms Hotel Scottsdale

A contemporary boutique hotel in a low-rise adobe structure the 3 Palms offers a large outdoor pool and spa, a rooftop sundeck, Fitness center: The fitness center hours are 7:00 am to 11:00 pm, an on-site restaurant, and a self-service laundry. Business travelers will be pleased with our business center tools, complementary high-speed Internet access in the lobby and all guest rooms, complementary wireless Internet access throughout the common areas and dry-cleaning and laundry service. El Dorado Park is adjacent to the hotel which is just two miles to the south of Old Town Scottsdale, three miles south of the Fashion Square Mall, and four miles from Arizona State University.

I totally agree that a one time vacation impression is usually not reliable enough to make a life changing relocation decision, especially considering that the OP mentions that they used to live in Denver which is also a completely different living experience from the Phoenix area. But many have done it and I think it works out alright for the majority. Best of luck in your job search and to a succesful move.

How nice of you to take the time to let us know you enjoyed your visit. We always had a great time in Scottsdale on our numerous trips back and forth.
Hope you land the job soon.
