Ok,,, here’s an item that is needing to be guessed what it is? Now it’s very simple and we know that it’s oriental (China I think) so don’t tell me that. We’re looking for what it is, why would you have it, how does it work? etc.
Is it about a foot wide and two high? When I zoom in on the picture, I see that it has what appears to bear 4 top drawers and 2 on the bottom and is that a persons ear on the right side of the picture on the edge close to what looks like a golden retriever? It looks like it could be a jewelry box, but I still think dowry.
the "how does it work?" question is throwing me...
It appears as if it has drawers, and that's that.
But, by the question, I'm looking for something funky, and seeing the left side (of the picture) the decoration running up and down on the side, appears as if it's off kilter. So, possibly they move? but they don't seem lined up with the drawers... in which case I'm looking for some sort of magician's box...hmmm, I think I'm reading too much into it.
I'm still going with jewelry armoire or telephone stand.
and kudos to dragon on the wedding cabinet idea, I wouldn't have gone there, but see that too..
(and dragon, I think the golden retreiver is a person's head.. :-)
It’s very interesting isn’t it however it’s not a privacy screen, chest of drawers, bed, jewelry armoire, or fireplace screen. All of those were good guesses, but it’s used for something else. You guys are good observers and picked up on a lot of detail about the unit. It is a little over a food wide and two high, and yes there are 4 top drawers plus 2 on the bottom.
HINT: To the best of my knowledge it’s used only in a type of business.
Is it a bank vault, maybe a spinning combo lock on top? An abacus? A Chinese rope couch (convertible). A Buddist Shrine.
