Here's a few from this morning, yes, i have watermelons in Maine! I am realizing now just how kicked around and dinged my jewelry is becoming due to my 'dirt manicures'!

Really cool shot, darling876! Reminds me of an action movie, like it's hanging on at full speed.

thanks for the cool feedback everyone,
Shepsmom, yes it is a praying mantis, normally I probably would have ran too, but it was too good of an opportunity to let pass..
Carbonated; all I can say is...Alien invasion..
Mookster, i really did not think of that but yes you are absoluty correct, especially with his antennas leaning back...lol...

I'll be sure to try and start posting some more..

The best way is to carry your camera everywhere you go and when a photo ops arrives, you'll have even more to post in the photography forum It works for me. (lol)

A few pics from my carnivorous plant terrarium, full of oddities. Shot with Canon SD400:

Nepenthes pitcher plant with wasp tasting nectar:

Sundew - all those little blobs are individual digestive glands that are sticky. They glisten in the light, attract prey, who then gets stuck. All the nearby glands then move to touch the prey and do their deed.

With an unfortunate victim:

Crane fly:

Terrarium 'guard dog' nabbing a fly who didn't fall victim to one of the plants. He pretty much gets the stragglers:

One more. Pulled this one of the terrarium to let the sunlight bring out the color:

11th Hour - those are awesome photos, and thanks for the botany/biology lessons as well! Rather graphic illustration of the food chain!
