One more thing..

If you really think that the world is dominated by idiots and headed down a path of self-destruction, and given that the idiots will continue to breed, don't you think you have some responsibility to breed large amounts of non-idiot children to help correct this imbalance?

I can respect and appreciate people who want to be single and childless for whatever reason, but the thought of not reproducing out of fear of some apocolyptic type future are pretty depressing. Are ones views of the future that awful... also you don't have to live in a Mcmansion and buy a giant SUV and send your kid to gymastic camp and buy them an IPOD Touch at 9... Raising children isn't all about money... you can use love too

(that was so poetic)

I hope I'm wrong. But with the evildoers poised to take control tomorrow, who knows?

I couldn't care less about SUVs, gym camp, etc. And I hate McMansions. And in my "apocalyptic" vision, no one but the top 3% of all Americans won't own them anyhow.

Again, I hope I'm wrong. I would love to be wrong about this. Love, love, love. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

Sheesh. There's nothing wrong with wanting to avoid children (I don't want them either), but screaming about "poopbabies" and "breeders" only makes you sound extremely bitter and insecure with your decision. There are effective ways to describe your situation without resorting to immature and unnecessary insults.

Meetin.org has ebbed in the number of activities posted.

The meetup.com Pittsburgh hiking group is quite active. Also, there is a non-native Pittsburgh meetup which seems to have events at least monthly. I haven't joined it, so haven't followed the events, but I believe the live music meetup group is active.

You know - I am a guy.
I am over 40
I do not have any kids - at least none that wants anything to do with me.
I hunt, I fish, I go four wheeling, I have a four wheeler and a four wheel drive. I own my own home, I own my own business - when I work and if I work. I have both a college education and a technical school education.

I have a small workshop with thousands of dollars of tools and equipment.

I have money in the bank.

I can go where I please and do as I please and I have no one to answer to.

Yet I tell the poorest person that has kids that they are richer then I am.

Every time one of my married friends starts whining about how poor they are and how they cannot make ends meet that they are the richest people I know.

When you die - if no one remembers you - then you are truly dead.
As long as one person remembers you and has something good to say about you and your life and how you lived your life and how you were a contributing member of society and how you helped out your fellow man - then your sole will live in perpetuity.

My friends all grew up and moved away a long time ago.
The only people left in my neighborhood who were not successful and moved on are all drug addicts and alcoholics.
Some of my friends are now dead.

All I needed to read was the forum name of the person making the post to know more about that person then they knew about themselves.

I relate all this to the biblical story in the bible of Jesus at Jacob's well.
He came in the middle of the day and asked the woman for a drink of water. She was offended that he asked for a drink.
I don't claim to be Jesus - But I knew how he must have felt.
Jesus And The Woman At The Well

Maybe what you need to do is to find a church, any church where there is people there with real faith, not the book learning type. Where there true faith can pray for you and offer you the fellowship that you truly crave.
Then you would not feel so alone. Your life will open up for you and you will see the good in people and you will be able to adjust your life to the point of where you will be a more giving and forgiving person.

Jesus By the Well

All this comes to you from a person who was once a homeless person.
I had three things that kept me alive.
A Bible - which I read from cover to cover at night.
A Websters New World Dictionary - which I read to enrich my vocabulary
And a Coleman lantern which provided both light and heat.
As long as i did not sleep at night and as long as I worked all day to make enough money for food and Coleman fuel - I stayed alive.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that the only way that a person becomes a homeless person is if no one cares about them.
When no one cares if you live or die - that is truly when you are on your own.

That is the problem that you have right now.

You don't have to be penniless to have nothing.

I know many people who are millionaires who has even less then I do.

They cannot fathom doing anything for anyone except themselves.

Anything that they do - they wish to be paid.

In the end you end up like the Johnny Cash video where he says he would trade his mountain of wealth for a second chance.

Only Johnny Cash could sing a rock song by Nine Inch Nails and make it even better then they did it. HURT

You sound like a real winner; rude posts with misspellings.
No surprise that you live near the dump.

Your comment says more than you know.
After living overseas for a decade, I sometimes cringe at the thought of moving back to the Pitts next year.
