I will. I'm hoping to visit in Sept when I plan to explore the neighborhoods I'm considering. I saw a house for sale on Brighton Road that was exactly what I'm looking for, minus the busy street. At least it looked perfect in the photos.

I second the captain's suggestion. The couple at the Java & Creme house are so lovely and friendly. They'll make you the best smoothie you've had (no mix, just fruit and juice).

I don't want to seem redundant, but as others have said, that's a very nice area. Brighton is a main road, so there is a bit of traffic, but not anything I'd consider overwhelming. I love it up there.

I'd definitely advise perhaps spending time in the area, or at the house in question before you purchase.

The road that I live on was supposedly a very busy road. My partner and I actually drove there one night, and hung out in the driveway to see if the traffic was too noisy at night. That said, we moved to the North Side from Lawrenceville, so we might have a higher tolerance, but I really don't think where we live is noisy at all.

If spending time at the house at night (before purchase) doesn't make you feel like a weirdo, I'd definitely recommend doing so. It was really helpful.

How's that section of Brighton Heights otherwise? Safe? Sketchy? Improving? Declining? Thanks for any info you can give me.[qoute]

Victim in Brighton Heights shooting death identified - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

This area isn't dangerous, but this is the seedier side of Brighton Heights... I'd still go for it yet there is a fair amount of drug activity in the area, although the area is most def. considered in slow decline...
Brighton Heights in slow decline? I have to disagree, and I'm around that neighborhood all the time. It's one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city, if you ask me.

My wife and I live a few blocks from that intersection and we love it. She grew up in the neighborhood as well.

If you have any questions on houses please feel free to ask me in this thread or via direct message, I may be able to give you some more info.

Thanks. I am planning to visit Pittsburgh in Sept and explore the neighborhoods I'm considering. I saw the listing for the house on Brighton Road and wanted to know more. I want an old house that hasn't been remodeled on a quiet street with a small yard and off street parking. Brighton Heights seems to have the housing stock I'm looking for. Is there a retail district within walking distance? Are there parts I should avoid? I have two dogs so it would be nice if there was a park or open space nearby. I've been wanting to move for many years and it looks like I'll be able to by next spring. I can't wait to live in a big house again. While I love my place here in SF, it's too small and too expensive. I'll really miss it here, but I'm also really excited about starting the next phase of my life.

The house on Brighton Road had much of what I'm looking for, but I think I'd prefer a street with less traffic.
